DEFINITION:

Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical technique to eliminate fat deposits present in different parts of the body such as hips, buttocks, legs, arms, etc.

the main advantage of liposuction is that the fat is removed permanently from the patient. Furthermore, they may be several zones in a single surgical procedure.

DESCRIPTION:

Liposuction reshapes patients body by absorbing the excess fat with a cannula through small incisions that usually leave no scar. The procedure lasts 1 or 2 hours and is usually performed under local anesthesia and sedation and with no hospitalisation required.

BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

Patients should undergo a preliminary analysis to evaluate the characteristics of the person and decide the amount of fat to be removed.

Furthermore, they must undergo a standard preoperative study that includes blood tests, electrocardiogram, etc.

Also, if they have any chronic illness or regularly take medications, especially anticoagulants, they should inform the surgeon before surgery.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE

For one month after the surgery patients must wear a corset and massage the treated areas to control inflammation.

Patients can start exercising again a week after the surgery, but patients must not do sports that involve jumping, such as jogging or aerobics, for one month.

Stay away from the sun and UVA rays for the first two months to prevent pigmentation spots from forming on the skin.
