Gastroscopy and colonoscopy
Gastroscopy and colonoscopy are diagnostic tests that permit to detect problems or diseases.
In a gastroscopy we can see the upper digestive tract (esophagus, stomach and duodenum) and in a colonoscopy we can see the rectum and colon.
Patients will be sedated during both tests.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
The stomach and intestine must be clean, so patients should use laxatives or enemas and they should attend the examination under fastening conditions..
AFTER THE PROCEDURE:
Patients will be able to go home about 1 hour after the gastro-colonoscopy. Farting is quite frequent and patients could feel a slight stomach upset.
Gastroscopy has no aftereffects.
Patients can return to their regular activities the next day.
