Nymphoplasty

DEFINITION

Nymphoplasty is the surgery in which we can improve the aesthetic appearance of the external female genitals such as their size and appearance, for the purpose of rejuvenate the appearance of the genital area. Nymphoplasty results are permanent.

The surgery involves the removal of excess labia to reduce their size or correct anomalies. In addition, a remodelling of the area which may affect the clitoral area, the pubis and labia majora is performed.

The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The duration is between 1 and 2 hours.

BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

Patients should undergo a preliminary test to evaluate the specific characteristics of their intervention.
Furthermore, they must undergo a standard preoperative study that includes blood tests, electrocardiogram, etc.

Also, if they have any chronic illness or regularly take medications, especially anticoagulants, they should inform the surgeon before surgery.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

The patient should rest for the first few days, but she can return to work after the second week, if the work does not need a great physical activity. After one month patients are totally recovered. Nymphoplasty is usually done with resorbable thread, so it’s no necessary to remove the stitches. In addition, the scars are undetectable.
