Breast reduction surgery
Breast reduction consists of reducing the volume of the breasts. It is indicated in cases of breast hypertrophy, in order to prevent back and neck pain, skin lesions and aesthetic or vascularisation problems.
This surgery allows women to breast and made all kinds of radiological tests.
The surgery consists in reducing the size of breasts by removing excess fat, glandular tissue and skin, and repositioning of the areola and nipple. In some cases patients can also perform a liposuction.
The intervention lasts between 2 and 3 hours and can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia, in which case an hospitalisation of 24 hours is required.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Patients should undergo a preliminary analysis to evaluate the characteristics of the person and decide the size, position and the final shape of the breasts.
Furthermore, they must undergo a standard preoperative study that includes blood tests, electrocardiogram, etc.
Also, if they have any chronic illness or regularly take medications, especially anticoagulants, they should inform the surgeon before surgery.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
Patients will be released from hospital wearing a bandage that must keep dry for three to four days. This will be replaced by a close fitting non-underwired sports bra with front fastening that patients must wear at all times for one month, even when sleeping.
We advise a recovery period of around 10 days, although for jobs that require the arms or more considerable strength, it is better to wait two full weeks.
