Botulinum toxin

Botulinum toxin is one of the most used treatments for facial rejuvenation, as it helps to get a younger face and smooth look. Periocular applications are very satisfactory for the patient. It can also be used to correct strabismus problems and other diseases.

The action of botulinum toxin is temporary, so its application may be repeated if the patient wants so.

Botulinum toxin acts on action wrinkles. The ophthalmologist should pay special attention to the eyelids to ensure that they can open and close properly.

The effects of the injections are maintained between 4 and 6 months.

Patients should undergo an ophthalmic study to evaluate their case. If they habitually consume anticoagulant medication, they should tell their doctor to assess their temporary abandonment, because they may interfere with the operation.

There may be minor side effects such as mild bruising and light asymmetries that will be  corrected with a touch up. We recommend placing ice on the injection site if there is pain.

Patients should avoid sports or sunbathing for 24 hours after application of the filling. They should not use the sauna or get a facial massage.

The final results will be apparent from the following day.
